Lesbian Clubs and Bar 2021 – Post Pandemic

[sc name=”inpostblogtop”]

It can be tough for us lesbians to find a cool queer space to kick back and relax in. Loud nightclubs can be a big turnoff, and even for those of us who like to club, most queer nightclubs are dominated by gay men. And with that recent report that many of the last remaining lesbian bars are closing, it made us think: what are the best lesbian spots in the U.S.?

Here are a few top-rated lesbian-friendly places around the U.S. to hang out in, socialize, and talk about all things lesbian, queer, and beyond.

Sue Ellen’s (Dallas)

A lot has been said about this fantastic lesbian gem nestled in the heart of Dallas. This little bar is an event powerhouse and regularly turns out fun events like burlesque shows, karaoke hour, blues day, live concerts, and more.

And, unsurprisingly, Sue Ellen’s has quite the fan club. So if you’re in the Dallas area, check them out when they reopen on Friday, June 4th, as it’s sure to be a wild and fun post-Covid reunion!

Hairrari (New York City)

Okay, busted. This isn’t technically a hangout spot. But as one of the top-rated queer hair spots in the city, we had to put Hairrari on our list.

Queer, woman, and immigrant-owned, this cute salon is an excellent spot to get your next queer hairdo. Armed with a team of friendly, professional staff, they’re all about that gay as heck hair. Plus, they give back to organizations like Planned Parenthood, HMI, LGBTQ Center, and Black Lives Matter.

So, what’s so different between a hangout spot and a barbershop? We say nothing.

Hot Flash Dances At Fuse Bar (Portland)

Get weird, Portland! Fuse Bar recently became the new host of dance party phenomena Hot Flash Dances: an event for lesbian, cis-women, and trans women to let their hair down on the dance floor. Events are typically DJed by Hot Flash Dance original member DJ Lauren, and it’s always a wild night full of the best hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

You’ll have to check back to find details on when they plan to reopen. We hope it’s soon!

Cuties Cafe (Los Angeles)

This was one of the best places to be gay in L.A. As a safe space for queer folk that doesn’t revolve around alcohol, Cuties carved a name for itself as the best place for a lesbian to get coffee, watch screenings, attend kink workshops, and more.

Unfortunately, they moved their shop to online-only with the pandemic, but they still host in-person events. In the meantime, Cuties has a lot of great resources online to form a community (like fun tarot readings by the wonderful lesbian psychic Molly The Medium and more resources for everything queer). Either way, we’ll keep hoping that Cuties will reopen its doors one day again.

So, there you have it: a few of our top picks of lesbian-friendly spaces to hang out in. Have a favorite gay place that you want featured? Let us know, and we’ll give them a shoutout. Or, if you’re a lesbian small business owner, let us know why your place rocks so we can get some fellow lesbians over to your place to hang ASAP!
