Senior couple Riley Loudermilk and Annie Wise accepted their crowns during the annual prom at Kings High School in Kings Mills, Ohio, earlier this month.
The couple has smashed history as the first LGBTQ couple crowned prom king and queen in the Ohio district. While the news may come as a surprise to some, the couple has reported that the other students in their class have been very supportive of their new relationship, which started when the couple began dating each other six months ago.
But it’s not just the students who support the couple’s relationship: the school does, too. They even posted a congratulatory post on their Facebook page regarding the king and queen announcement. The post has since gone viral with 5,000 likes and more than 500 shares.

All in all, the prom king and queen announcement is something that the couple is very excited about. “It was so cool — it was like loud screaming, lots of tears,” Wise told NBC News. “My crown fell off, and it broke. There was a lot going on, but it’s something I’ll never forget. It was amazing.”
