Peer Advice: How Do You Know Your A Lesbian

It’s ya girl Colleen again coming at you with our third peer advice corner! So without further ado, let’s jump into this weeks question:

See the original post here.

This is a great question that I’m sure most of us queer and gay women can relate to. But before we dive into my advice, let’s hear what the community has to say.

One reader responded with this:

I absolutely agree with this reader. No one should ever feel pressured to assign a label to themselves. Sexuality is very fluid and especially when you’re just trying to figure everything out and experiment, there’s no rush to pin yourself down to one label.

I also completely agree with this reader. There isn’t a clear answer to sexuality, and a lot of times our sexual identities aren’t defined by our fantasies. Sexuality is a complex, ever changing dynamic. It’s okay to experiment in your fantasies, and it’s also okay if your fantasies don’t relate to your sexual identity.

My advice? If you find that men are turning you off, that might be a pretty good sign that you’re into women. But sexuality changes, and it’s important to keep an open mind as you learn more about yourself and what you’re into.

Above anything else, keep an open mind and allow yourself to experiment with whoever you’re interested in. But whoever you experiment with, make sure to always love and embrace yourself like crazy, and know that the community is always here to support you as you figure it all out.

I hope this was helpful! As always, write in to let us know your thoughts, and make sure to keep sending us questions here.
