State Of Emergency – Trans Pride

If you’ve been following trans news recently, you’ve probably noticed a slew of discriminatory and anti-trans legislation being passed across the United States.

During times of great trouble, it can be difficult to find the light at the end of the tunnel. But there is still something good to focus on. All of these trials are shedding light on one of our community’s strongest, most vital, and most powerful groups: the trans community.

Our trans siblings are incredibly inspiring. Last week, trans activists called for a state of emergency meeting in Brooklyn. The meeting was about how the trans community and allies can reclaim space for our black and brown trans and nonbinary community and fight back against discrimination and violence against nonbinary and trans people.

If you’re looking for a new role model, allow us to tell you about nonbinary activist Mx. Shéár Avory. A key speaker at the Brooklyn Protests, they called for action to help reshape the quality of life for the black trans and non-binary community.

“In the midst of this chaos, in the midst of these anti-trans bills across the country, there is a legacy of resilience, a legacy of hope, a legacy that young people really came together to birth,” Avory explained.

We love, love, love this. So inspiring, so motivating, so beautiful. It really encapsulates the strength and beauty of the spirit of the trans community.

For all us lesbians figuring out how to best support our trans friends and family during these trying times, a place to start is to follow and listen to trans activists like Mx. Avory and Raquel Willis

If you can, take action by donating to legal organizations to fight discrimination. If you’re not able to donate, you can always get involved on lower levels and take action in your own community

As always, we love our trans and nonbinary family! We’re very proud of everyone involved in the Brooklyn protest, and know your lesbian sisters are always here to support <3
